Three-Tier Document Management Platform

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from Hummingbird Ltd.

TORONTO, April 30 /PRNewswire/ - Hummingbird Ltd. (NASDAQ: "HUMC" and
TSE: "HUM"), a world-leading enterprise software company, announced today that
Washington, D.C. based law firm Wiley, Rein & Fielding will be upgrading its
document management system (DMS) to the advanced document management
environment of DOCSFusion(R) which includes PowerDOCS(R), the Windows-based
client, and CyberDOCS(R), the Web-based client.
"The pilot tests we conducted comparing the Hummingbird document
management platform against competitive systems confirmed our notion that
Hummingbird's document management solutions are evolving to keep pace with the
needs of our industry. Our tests conclude that DOCSFusion(R) is a stable and
reliable DMS solution and a viable alternative to solutions offered by
Hummingbird's competitors," said Brett Don, chief information officer, Wiley,
 Rein & Fielding.
"The three-tier architecture provides increased stability and reliability
throughout our organization, plus, with easy customization, and enhanced
remote access through CyberDOCS(R), we are gaining a document management
system that can be logically organized and easy for our lawyers to use. We are
confident this highly scalable and cost-effective solution positions us to
gain from the full value of knowledge resources within our organization," Don
 added.
A current DOCS Open(R) customer, Wiley, Rein & Fielding will begin its
implementation of the DOCSFusion(R) family in June. When implemented,
approximately 500 people in the organization will use the new document
management application, which will be integrated with the firm's new Microsoft
Windows 2000(x) platform including integration with Microsoft Exchange 2000(x)
 and Outlook 2000(x).
"Our three-tier document management platform is designed to maximize
enterprise agility and functionality for our clients," said Sami Hero, senior
director of product marketing, Hummingbird Ltd. "The decision of Wiley, Rein &
Fielding to implement DOCSFusion(R), after extensive testing and competitive
analysis, is excellent testimony to our ongoing success in the development and
