Ibex Healthdata Systems Signs Catholic Healthcare West Hospital to Provide Its PulseCheck(R) Emergency Department Patient Tracking System

ROSEMONT, Ill., April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- IBEX
Healthdata Systems, Inc., of Rosemont, IL, the premier provider of innovative
Web browser-based solutions to the healthcare industry, today announced that
Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, a member of Catholic Healthcare West, has
selected IBEX's PulseCheck(R) Emergency Department Information System to
integrate and streamline medical and administrative information workflow in
 its Emergency Department.
Nearly 30,000 patients are treated annually in the Emergency Department
(ED) at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, a 121 bed institution serving the
historic gold mining area of Grass Valley, California. Grass Valley is
located in the Sierra Nevada foothills between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe.
Physicians and hospital administrators were looking for a cost-effective
method to improve the quality of patient documentation, streamline processes
in the ED, and provide clinicians with better tools to deliver the highest
level of patient care. The Emergency Department conducted an extensive search
 before choosing PulseCheck(R).
"As we searched for an emergency department information system, IBEX
PulseCheck(R) stood out in several areas, especially for efficiencies
resulting from patient tracking, physician documentation and charge
capture," said Darren Phelan, M.D. medical director of Emergency Services at
Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. "It is our hope that with PulseCheck(R),
patients, their families and physicians will benefit from faster patient
throughput and up-to-date patient information available to everyone within the
 Emergency Department."
"With PulseCheck(R) in place, patients experience shorter waiting times in
the Emergency Department and benefit from faster access to test results,"
according to IBEX President and CEO Mark Crockett, M.D. "The greatest
benefits to patients, however, are derived from benefits to medical and
administrative personnel, who have better and faster access to information and
therefore have more time to spend with patients."
"We were impressed with PulseCheck(R) for its adaptability to future
modifications and capacity for customization, " said Cathy Cerna, RN, director
of Emergency Services. "The system will create a more accurate, retrievable
and legible medical record that can be accessed quickly."
"A key advantage of the PulseCheck(R) system is the seamless interface
between the medical and administrative documentation, so that the same
information does not have to be typed over and over again," said Russell
Edgar, manager of Information Systems. "This not only saves time, but it also
helps avoid mistakes that can arise when data is entered numerous times."
Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital joins a growing list of nearly two dozen
institutions that use the PulseCheck(R) system, including academic hospitals,
small community hospitals and integrated healthcare delivery systems.
