476 Percent Revenue Growth and 390 Percent Growth in Net Profit

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from Aztec Software Inc.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Aztec Software Inc.
(www.aztecsoft.com), a leading provider of software technology services for
Internet application and infrastructure solutions, today announced it has
hired William C. Brown (Chris), formerly a vice president of IBM Global
Services, to serve as its president. Brown's experience in managing worldwide
services operations, multi-billion dollar businesses, and relationships with
large enterprises complements Aztec's current success with net-centric,
technology clients. Brown will report to S. Parthasarathy, Aztec's chief
executive officer, and will be responsible for worldwide operations. Brown
joins the company shortly after it announced revenues of $17.6 million
(growth of 476 percent) and a net profit of $4.05 million (growth of
390 percent) for the year ending March 31, 2001.
Brown comes to Aztec with more than 20 years experience working in
renowned services organizations. Most recently, he was vice president of IBM's
Application Management Services (AMS), a multi-billion dollar business unit
that employs more than 25,000 professionals worldwide. As the leader of AMS,
Brown was personally active in the Telecommunications, Automotive, and
 Financial Services industries.
Prior to heading the AMS unit, Brown held a number of senior positions at
IBM, including chief operating officer of the IBM Consulting Group, worldwide
practice leader for the Application Solutions Consulting Practice and vice
president of Healthcare Solutions. He also led IBM's Global Resource
Operation, which manages how the services giant incorporates resources and
skills from Canada, China, India, Mexico and other geographically- and
 culturally-diverse locations into services solutions.
"When I came to IBM in 1992, it was a tough but remarkable time," said
Brown. "IBM was struggling and a number of us came in as outside hires to
start the IBM Consulting Group. At the same time, our services subsidiary,
ISSC, was launching IBM's outsourcing business. The renewed emphasis on
consulting and services led us to achieve more than $37 billion in services
revenue in 2000. It was an absolutely incredible journey."
Brown continued, "I was fortunate to have positions in multiple parts of
IBM's services business -- consulting, sales and distribution, and strategic
outsourcing -- it's given me a broad appreciation of the application services
market and its potential. It is this appreciation, the admiration of Aztec's
leadership in crafting a stellar team of professionals, and Aztec's reputation
for technology leadership and delivery excellence that makes me honored to be
 part of the team."
Before joining IBM, Brown was a partner in the consulting arm of
Ernst & Young, responsible for large-scale development and integration
projects. He was deeply involved in the initial licensing, deployment and use
of the consultancy's proprietary development methodology. His primary industry
experience at Ernst & Young was in Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, and
 Information Processing.
Brown joined Ernst & Young after nine years at SYSCON Corporation, a
systems engineering company that specialized primarily in real-time weapons
systems development for the U.S. Department of Defense.
"Chris is a phenomenal addition to our team," said Parthasarathy. "His
extensive experience in multiple geographies, corporate-level exposure to many
enterprises and industries, and deep insight into offshore software operations
will propel us into the big league and help us continue our aggressive
 growth."
"Aztec has mastered the application of emerging technologies, delighting
customers and managing phenomenal growth," said K.B. Chandrasehkar, Aztec
board member, and chairman and co-founder of Jamcracker. "Chris' ability to
grow and manage enterprise class clients opens new vistas for Aztec to build
upon its mastery achieved in applying emerging technologies. Chris, Partha and
the rest of the Aztec team are well poised for the company's next stage of
growth. This is a significant strategic move on Aztec's part."
