IBM Selects Rainmaker Systems to Increase Revenues From Software Subscription Contracts

Cost-Effective Outsourced Solution to Enhance IBM's Sales And

Marketing Capabilities

Apr 11, 2001, 01:00 ET from Rainmaker Systems, Inc.

    SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., April 11 /PRNewswire/ --
Rainmaker Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: RMKR), a leading outsource provider of
Internet-enabled sales and marketing services, today announced that IBM
(NYSE: IBM) will use Rainmaker's Contracts Renewals Plus(SM) (CRP) service to
cost-effectively increase renewals of tens of thousands of select software
subscription contracts for middleware software on IBM's AS/400 and iSeries,
the world's most popular multi-user commercial business computers, with
700,000 shipped worldwide. IBM's software subscription contracts ensure that
customers have the latest enhancements to the covered software.
Integrating rapidly into IBM's own sales and marketing infrastructure,
Rainmaker's CRP service will extend the capabilities of IBM's internal teams
and enable them to focus on other business priorities.
"Smart companies like IBM recognize that software subscriptions enable
customers to get the most from their existing software investment and
represent an opportunity for companies to increase revenue from existing
customers -- two key issues especially in today's economy. However, developing
in-house expertise and systems to sell and renew these contracts can be very
expensive and time consuming," said Michael Silton, chief executive officer
for Rainmaker Systems. "With Rainmaker's turn-key outsourcing model, IBM can
leverage our existing investment in smart business processes, innovative
technology and experienced professionals to cost-effectively increase their
contract revenues and extend customer relationships."
Rainmaker will serve as a bridge between IBM, its customers and resellers
to deliver integrated sales and marketing services, utilizing the Web, phone,
direct mail and fax. Rainmaker will help customers understand the value of
keeping their contracts current and prompt them to renew.
"Our agreement with IBM presents significant opportunities for us, and we
are looking forward to building a strong relationship," said Martin Hernandez,
chief operating officer for Rainmaker. "Rainmaker is committed to providing a
substantial value for companies who recognize how outsourcing can
cost-effectively increase revenue from the post-sales customer relationship.
We're proud that IBM has recognized this value and look forward to delivering
 strong results for them."
