IDC to Reveal Top 10 ASPs at AppSourcing Forum in San Francisco, April 17-18, 2001

Apr 02, 2001, 01:00 ET from IDC

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- IDC, the world's leading
provider of technology intelligence and advice, today announced its annual
AppSourcing Forum to be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco on
 April 17th and 18th.
According to Meredith McCarty Whalen, director of IDC's ASP and Internet
Services research, "At the Forum, IDC will reveal the 10 ASPs that generated
the most revenue in 2000. Despite a great deal of negative media around ASPs
today, preliminary estimates suggest the average ASP in the top 10 achieved
revenue growth of 360% from 1999 to 2000. It's important to recognize that
amidst the turmoil, some companies are meeting and exceeding expectations."
IDC will also unveil its ASP Leadership Grid at the AppSourcing Forum.
This IDC benchmarking analysis tool leverages information from an upcoming
study of more than 70 ASPs to determine market leaders. ASPs will be measured
in alignment with market opportunity and the ability to gain market share.
Leading ASPs are evaluated on how they have successfully implemented
strategies to address the change in the industry, as well as how well they are
positioned to remain competitive in the future.
With the recent dot-com tailspin, the e-playing field has not only become
more level but also more competitive. As the market regroups, a smarter, more
resilient breed of ASPs will evolve. While these ASPs seek to establish more
stability and higher profitability, IDC forecasts a dramatic increase in
customer expectation and demand on the ASP market.
"ASPs have made significant progress in educating end users, building
strong partnerships, and validating the model, but it's time to take it to the
next step," said Amy Mizoras, senior ASP analyst at IDC. "ASPs will need to
prove they are here to stay by providing quality services beyond
implementation and enabling their customers to recognize a high return on
 investment."

     Forum highlights and featured analysts:

What ASPs are thriving in today's market, as well as who will be gaining
strength tomorrow. Using IDC's exclusive Top 10 ASP Leadership Grid, the
discussion will focus on the top ASPs to date and the strategies and
methodology behind their success. Meredith McCarty Whalen, director, ASP and
 Internet Services Research, IDC, presenting.

Controlling the ROI imperative. As ASP implementation increases, so will

employment and how this equation will impact the ASP market in the future.
