IDe Expansion Brings Web-Enabled Product Development Technology to the UK

--Development Chain Management (DCM) Leader Forms UK Subsidiary--

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from Integrated Development Enterprise, Inc.

CONCORD, Mass., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Development
Enterprise, Inc., (IDe), the leading provider of DCM software for integrated
product development, today announced the opening of a subsidiary office in
Cambridge, UK. IDe will offer its product development management solutions,
which allow companies to increase the productivity, predictability, and
throughput of their R&D efforts while reducing time-to-market for new
products. For many companies, new product revenues represent a major portion
 of total revenues.
IDe's decision to establish a presence in Europe at this time is based on
several factors. The rate of adoption of its products in the U.S. has been
accelerating since its flagship product, IDweb, was formally introduced in
2000. IDe's strategic partner, PRTM, the leading management consultancy to the
technology industry and developer's of the PACE(TM) (Product And Cycle-time
Excellence(TM)) phase-gate development methodology, has a solid following in
Europe. IDe's recent round of venture financing was partly focused on
initiating international expansion. And perhaps most importantly, European
companies engaged in product development for the global economy have the same
pressing need as their U.S. counterparts for technologies to streamline their
 development chains.
"The gap between the demand and supply of engineering resources across
North America and Europe is rapidly increasing - research shows a 25 percent
shortfall in engineering resource availability," said Marc Halpern, research
director, The Gartner Group. "Given current trends, this shortfall will
increase to 40 percent by 2005. Therefore, companies must find solutions for
improving resource utilization in order to maximize product development
 throughput."
Director of UK sales operations, Fred Phillips, will head up the new
office. He will focus on growing IDe's UK customer base among midsized and
large product development companies as characterized by those listed among the
Financial Times UK 500. Phillips gained extensive marketing and technical
experience through management positions with technology organizations in the
UK including IBM, Baan, Jobscope and Lilly Software.
"The arrival of IDweb in Europe will fill a void for much needed DCM
solutions," said Fred Phillips, director of UK sales operations, IDe. Up to
now, there has not been a fully integrated system available for product
developers in the UK. I am confident that IDweb and IDe's other solutions will
create significant buzz in the product development industry, and I am
personally looking forward to being involved in this endeavor."
"The best product companies in Europe are looking to Web technologies to
help them manage their phase-gate development processes, and in that context,
the literally millions of associated data points," said Richard S. Moore,
president and CEO of IDe. "The Web is the perfect environment for integrating,
throughout all development phases. Functional resource managers and portfolio
managers are now able to easily coordinate efforts with project managers and
hundreds or even thousands of cross-functional project team members. Only the
power of Web technology applied to the complexity and variability of product
development can help companies achieve the next wave of R&D productivity
 increases."
In addition to the establishment of their Cambridge-based subsidiary, IDe
is also launching its executive seminar series in the UK. Scheduled for May 22
 - May 24, the series will be lead by Richard S. Moore, president and CEO of
IDe, and will discuss how it is possible to apply the power of automation to
enable the phase-gate development process, integrate the complex functions and
team activities associated with it, and provide the ability to truly manage
the highly variable process of product development.
IDe's UK offices are located at 1010 Cambourne Park Business Park,
Cambourne, Cambridge, CB3 6DP. For more information on the seminar series,
