IMPCO Announces $1.15 Million Order From Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift

- New California Off-Highway Emission Regulations Drive Sales For

Advanced Fuel Systems

- 1,000 Systems Per Month to MCFA Houston, TX Facility

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from IMPCO Technologies, Inc.

CERRITOS, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- IMPCO Technologies, Inc.,
(Nasdaq: IMCO) the World's leading source of advanced alternative fuel systems
technology and components for internal combustion engines, announced today
that it has received an order from (MCFA) Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklifts of
America (Houston, TX) to supply the company with over 1,000 advanced
gaseous fuel systems per month starting in May, 2001 for the company's
 emission-certified lift truck.
Mr. Roger Burrows, Director of Global Sales for the Engine Systems
Division, said, "IMPCO is very proud to be a significant partner to MCFA in
this new fuel system. This sale is the culmination of over 14 months of
extensive development; engineering and testing that took place both here in
the USA and Japan. The first lift truck utilizing this new emission-certified
system will role off the assembly line about the middle of May, and will be
one of the first lift truck manufacturers to supply emission-certified lift
trucks to comply with California's tough new emissions standards for
off-highway equipment. In choosing IMPCO as their fuel systems partner,
Mitsubishi-Caterpillar is reinforcing its sincere commitment to the
environment by accessing the very best, most environmentally efficient fuel
systems solution, which the world has to offer."
Emission-certified off-highway equipment is the latest in an attempt to
reduce harmful exhaust emissions and improve air quality. Starting in 2001,
California requires 25% of off-highway equipment such as forklifts to have
certified engines that use electronic controls and exhaust after-treatment to
reduce and control emissions. (This will increase 25% each year through
2004.) By 2004, the EPA will adopt the same regulation thus requiring all
States to adopt emissions standards. IMPCO is directly involved with engine
certification, fuel system development and system integration for industrial
equipment, and holds one of the first emission certificates for an industrial
 engine in California. http://www.impco.ws/engine_systems.htm.
