NEW YORK, Aug. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York City Alliance of InfraGard is proud to partner with Coalfire Systems, a leading IT audit and compliance firm, to host a one-day Cyber Defense Summit on September 14, 2011 in lower Manhattan. The event will focus on recent developments in cyber crime and fraud, legal and regulatory issues affecting cyber security, insider cyber threats to corporations, and cloud security.

"In the past several months we have heard about data breaches almost daily. This Cyber Defense Summit, held during the Department of Homeland Security's 'Preparedness Month,' will cover the current threats we are facing and build better awareness of how to prevent future occurrences," said Joe Concannon, president of InfraGard's New York City Alliance.

Cyber invasions of banking and credit card companies have put the financial lives of millions of consumers at risk. Experts from the FDIC, the Federal Reserve Bank and the NCUA will review the latest regulations that help protect account holders. Dr. Larry Ponemon, of the Ponemon Institute, will discuss what a recent study revealed about how to keep data secure in the cloud. Paul Paray, of national law firm Wilson Elser, will focus on new strategies for managing cyber risks and John Rostern from Coalfire will cover insider threats to corporations.

The event is open to IT and security professionals in the private and public sector and provides CPE credits. For more information about this event, or to register for the event, visit
