INSpire Chooses MERANT PVCS Dimensions for Software Application Management And Development

Implementation Will Improve Customer Service Delivery

Apr 17, 2001, 01:00 ET from INSpire Insurance Solutions, Inc.

    FORT WORTH, Texas, April 17 /PRNewswire/ --
INSpire Insurance Solutions (Nasdaq: NSPR), a leading property and casualty
insurance outsourcing services provider, is using a new software configuration
management (SCM) application to speed software development and improve
 customer service quality.
PVCS(R) Dimensions, developed by MERANT (Nasdaq: MRNT; London: MRN), a
leading global e-business software solutions company, will facilitate process
management by establishing roles and relationships, defining states and the
transitions between them, and automating workflow. The end result will be
INSpire's improved time-to-market for the newest insurance applications and
 improved customer service delivery.
PVCS, the industry SCM leader, will significantly reduce application
development cycles, enabling INSpire to create and deploy applications faster,
with higher quality and less rework.
"This leading-edge software enables us to serve our clients better," said
John Pergande, chairman and CEO of INSpire. "By implementing PVCS Dimensions,
we will be able to deliver more quickly and eliminate any delivery problems
that may occur from our development centers to our customers' processing
 centers."
PVCS Dimensions is a flexible and scalable SCM solution, which integrates
classic development management tasks such as version control, change tracking,
and build and release management. At the same time it adds another feature:
The ability to create a process model to automatically manage checkpoints,
approvals, workflow and the stages of a product's lifecycle.
Through the use of PVCS Dimensions, INSpire's customers can now enter
enhancement requests via Web-enabled interfaces and participate jointly in the
development of requirements and specifications. The benefits of these
features include the ability to take on a more active role in the development
process by enabling customers to have the same view of the project as the
 development team.
"We are pleased that INSpire has chosen MERANT to be its ally in improving
its software development processes," said Mark House, director of product
management for MERANT. "Helping our customers succeed through the use of
innovative technology, best practices, and a team of dedicated individuals has
always been MERANT's primary mission. INSpire's challenges are similar to
many organizations dependent on technology that must be flexible, scalable and
 provide lasting value."
INSpire is further leveraging the investment in the MERANT technology by
forming its first-ever fully dedicated Configure Management Team made up of
lead developers and senior application programmers.
"By refocusing our efforts and making an investment in configuration
management, we're enabling our developers to focus on their core competencies
-- bringing value to and deploying our own software capabilities as opposed to
focusing on administrative tasks," said Pergande.
INSpire is in the process of implementing PVCS Dimensions with its
internal customers. By the end of June, the company plans to have all
customers using PVCS Dimensions for change management. "This will be a
seamless process," Pergande says. "The only difference our customers will see
is faster, better and more cost-effective service." The version management
component is scheduled for implementation during the third and fourth quarters
 of this year.
