Instituto Crescer Releases a Free Online Assessment for Schools to Analyze their Innovative Educational Practices Supported by Digital Technologies

School managers and a workgroup formed by professors, parents, students, employees and community representatives can already assess schools based on educational innovation indicators at seven school management levels

SAO PAULO, Aug. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Instituto Crescer (www.institutocrescer.org.br), which has among its pillars the development of projects related to Education 3.0, launches a free online assessment (http://educartec.org.br/self-assessment/) that permits school managers and their workgroups to perform a self-evaluation on pedagogical and managerial school practices to analyze how innovative they are. 

"By answering the questionnaire, it is possible to have a very clear perspective on the situations that include innovative practices and those that still deserve more attention, understanding that these practices may collaborate with the promotion of a better quality education. We believe that this document can contribute not only for schools to review their practices, but also seeking that governments can offer more subsidies to evaluate investment and teacher training opportunities for the use of digital technologies", -states Luciana Allan, the Instituto Crescer Director and Doctor in Applied Technology in Education by the USP University.

For the Instituto Crescer director, the institutional investments made to purchase computers and the Internet access offer have not provoked the expected impacts in the students' learning processes due to reasons that go beyond the purchase of such resources, such as the lack of knowledge on the local reality, inexistence of a strategic plan for the implementation of educational information technology and the disinterest in rethinking pedagogical aspects.

Project gathered applied technology in education specialists

The online evaluation created by the Instituto Crescer was structured with the support of a commitee formed by two workgroups: one composed of Institute professionals who have participated in educational information technology and another one formed by academics, specialists and market professionals who participate in initiatives that involve the promotion of innovative schools supported by digital technologies.

The questionnaire collaborates with the analysis of innovative educational practices at seven levels: pedagogical, administrative, financial, infrastructure, parents and relatives, human resources and community. The results obtained allow institutions to review their pedagogical and managerial practices, also evaluating digital technology investment opportunities.
