    SAN FRANCISCO, April 26 /PRNewswire/ --
Intershop Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISHP; Neuer Markt: ISH), a leading
provider of e-business solutions, has been selected by TRW's automotive
aftermarket business to take its sales and distribution channels online in
eight European countries. As the chosen e-business platform, Intershop
Enfinity(TM) provides a quickly deployable, high-performance, scalable and
extensible foundation on which to build electronic relationships with
 customers and trading partners.
TRW 's aftermarket business, part of TRW Chassis Systems, a world leader
in braking, steering and suspension systems, as well as commercial steering
and engine components, is a leading supplier of aftermarket car parts,
including braking, steering & suspension and electrical equipment. As part of
TRW's efficiency drive, Intershop Enfinity's integrated e-business platform
will enable the automation and streamlining of TRW's sales and account
management activities, significantly reducing administration and transaction
 costs.
Through the deployment of Enfinity, TRW expects to achieve savings of
around $1 million per year in operational costs. TRW's 30,000 customers in
Europe will benefit from having 24/7 access to an online catalog of more than
60,000 products, which can be used to identify needed parts by cross
referencing with 38,000 listed vehicles. Orders can then be placed and
tracked online, including customers' repeat orders, requests for stock
quotations and the placement of express orders. TRW will launch its service
in the second quarter of 2001 in four languages: French, Portuguese, Spanish
and Italian. There are also plans to rollout future versions of the service
 in German and Russian.
Enfinity, Intershop's advanced enterprise e-business platform, was chosen
based on the strength and flexibility of its solution. European program
manager for TRW's aftermarket business, Greg Bryan, said: "Intershop's
project team demonstrated that they could be flexible, highly energized and
thoroughly professional. We are extremely pleased with our decision to work
with Intershop -- as even with incredibly tight deadlines, the team delivered
a highly robust and complex e-business solution on time and on budget."
"TRW's implementation of Enfinity reinforces Intershop's capabilities in
providing cross-industry as well as industry-specific solutions," said
John Griffith, managing director of Intershop UK. "Enfinity's powerful
e-commerce platform with flexible components was designed to answer the needs
of specific industries while offering a quicker return on investment, enabling
companies to manage business processes efficiently and optimize their
electronic trading relationships throughout the value chain. Our dedication
to the automotive industry as a key market vertical for Intershop is well
 represented by the TRW project."
