    DURHAM, N.C., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Intersouth Partners
 (http://www.intersouth.com ), one of the most active and successful early-
 stage venture capital investment firms located in the Southeast, announced
 today that Selby Wellman has joined the firm as a Venture Partner.  Wellman
 was recently Senior Vice President and General Manager of the InterWorks
 Business Division and the RTP, NC Corporate Site Executive for Cisco Systems,
 Inc.
     Wellman will become Intersouth's fourth Technology Venture Partner,
 joining Kip Frey, former president and CEO of OpenSite Technologies, an
 Intersouth portfolio company acquired by Siebel Systems in 2000; Don Rainey,
 founder and CEO of Total SumParts, a web development firm located in Reston,
 Virginia; and Dr. Ron Rohrer, who founded Performance Signal Integrity, which
 was acquired by Integrated Silicon Systems, a publicly traded Intersouth
 portfolio company, while he was a professor of electrical engineering at
 Carnegie Mellon University.  Intersouth also has two Life Sciences Venture
 Partners including recently announced, Dr. Robert M. Bell, former Vice
 President of Research at Glaxo Wellcome, Inc. in Research Triangle Park, NC;
 and Philip R. Tracy, former president and CEO of Burroughs Wellcome Co.
     As Senior Vice President and General Manager of the InterWorks Business
 Division and the RTP, NC Corporate Site Executive for Cisco Systems, Inc.,
 Wellman was responsible for all Cisco SNA/IP and IBM Mainframe integration
 products and the Cisco Strategic Alliance with the IBM Corporation, in
 addition to Cisco-wide critical R&D projects.  Prior to this position, Wellman
 was Senior Vice President of Business Units at Cisco in San Jose, where he was
 responsible for the engineering and marketing for all core routing and
 switching products.  At Cisco, Wellman also served as the senior executive
 responsible for Corporate Marketing.  Prior to joining Cisco, Wellman was
 Corporate Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Operations at Fibercom for
 five years, after spending time as Corporate Vice President of Sales and
 Marketing at Paradyne, a networking company located in Florida.  Previously,
 Wellman began his career at IBM holding various marketing and management
 positions over his 15-year tenure.  Wellman also served as an officer in the
 U.S. Air Force.

 Inc., an RTP-based company in the Linux Open Source software business.
 Through his private foundation, Wellman actively works with K-12 schools in
 providing technology.  Wellman also has a passion for cars, and is currently
 competing in the Grand American Sports Car Racing Series driving a Porsche 911
 for the SpeedSource racing team out of Deerfield Beach, Florida.  Wellman
 received his B.S. in Finance from Marshall University, and completed graduate
 studies at Arizona State University. He and his wife, Donna, have been married
 for 37 years and have two sons.
