EULESS, Texas, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- IP Metrics Software, a leading
provider of high availability software and services for mission-critical
networks, today announced a Linux beta version of its flagship NIC Express
 software.
NIC Express increases the performance and reliability of Linux servers by
load balancing network traffic across an array of two or more NICs. The
software scales to the enterprise to intelligently re-route data traffic
around logical and physical faults anywhere on the network.
According to IDC, the Linux operating system has become the second
best-selling operating system behind Microsoft's Windows NT.
"Recent enhancements to Linux, including its ability to support
multiprocessor servers, have increased the operating system's popularity for
mission-critical networks and Internet servers," said David Wilbanks,
president and CEO of IP Metrics. "NIC Express Linux will enable servers to
maximize performance and reliability by load balancing network traffic across
 redundant data paths."
"We've been evaluating NIC Express for Linux for some time," said Edward
Okerson, VP of Engineering at Texas Connect, Inc. "As a regional ISP, it's
important we maintain the performance and reliability of our server
connections. NIC Express' ability to create redundant data paths has already
alleviated the bottlenecks at our main mail server and increased its
reliability. The software has eliminated down time and increased response
 times for our customers."

NIC Hardware Vendor, D-LINK, r Linux into their network adaptor product line.
D-Link already licenses NIC Express for its Windows NT/2000 adaptors.
"NIC Express Linux is the only NIC load balancing software available to
Linux systems," said Sam Liang, President of D-Link Corp., based in Taipei,
Taiwan. "Including NIC Express for Linux with our advanced Gigabit and
Multiport adaptors adds tremendous value to our Linux customers by increasing
the performance and reliability of their Linux systems. Providing NIC Express
for Linux clearly sets D-Link apart from our competitors."

FalconStor to Certify NIC Express Linux for IPStor Software
FalconStor, a provider of storage infrastructure software, is considering
integrating NIC Express for Linux into its IPStor product line to increase
end-to-end network availability. FalconStor's IPStor product line provides a
wide range of enterprise-class storage services, including storage
virtualization, active-active fail over, capacity-on-demand, remote
replication, mirroring, application-aware snapshots and zero-impact
backup/restores across storage area networks and network attached storage
 systems.
"We're excited to be one of the first storage management vendors to
examine NIC Express for Linux to leverage its benefits for IPStor," said
ReiJane Huai, president and CEO of FalconStor. "NIC Express will enable our
IPStor customers to achieve even greater levels of performance and reliability
on their storage area networks and network attached storage."

     About NIC Express
NIC Express software increases network availability and performance by
creating redundant data paths between all network end points. The software
works by trunking two or more network connections together to create one
logical interface to the network. The software assigns traffic across the
multiple ports and then peers deep within the network to test the health of
various routes between two points. If a fault is detected, traffic is
 instantly re-routed.
NIC Express for Linux also features NIC Express Enterprise Manager, which
allows administrators to centrally manage all servers running NIC Express.
Enterprise Manager is a Web-based console that can be accessed with any
browser, anywhere on the network or across the Internet.

     Pricing, Specifications and Availability
NIC Express Linux will begin shipping in October 2001 and is priced at
$395.00 per server. NIC Express Linux supports version 2.4 of the Linux
 kernel and higher.
NIC Express is the only hardware and vendor agnostic NIC load balancing
software on the market. The software supports all major network adaptor
brands, any layer 2/3/4 switch and network environments such as Ethernet, Fast
Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel.
