Former ACE*COMM President and GE Executive to Lead Global Satellite

Communications Company

Apr 23, 2001, 01:00 ET from Iridium Satellite LLC

LEESBURG, Va., April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Iridium
Satellite LLC, the only provider of truly global, truly mobile satellite voice
and data solutions, today named Gino Picasso president and CEO of the company.
Dan Colussy, who along with a group of private investors purchased the assets
of Iridium LLC last December, will continue to serve as chairman. Picasso
 assumes this position immediately.
"Gino's depth of satellite expertise gained at General Electric including
working with service providers significantly enhances Iridium's management
team," said Colussy. "It has always been my intention to pass on the day-to-
day management of this venture to an experienced executive once the service
was up and running. Gino offers a mix of satellite, telecommunications and
management experience that makes him the ideal candidate to lead this company
 to commercial success."
Picasso brings over 20 years of telecommunications and professional
management experience to Iridium, which launched commercial service last
month. As president and COO of ACE*COMM Corporation (Nasdaq: ACEC), a provider
of operations support systems (OSS) software to telecommunications service
providers, Picasso reorganized and streamlined the company's operations to
realize its leadership position in real-time data warehousing and information
delivery systems critical to future communication network operators world-
 wide.
Prior to joining ACE*COMM, Picasso served as president of GE Capital
Spacenet Services, Inc, where he helped establish the company as a leader in
the very small aperture terminal (VSAT) market by growing revenues four-fold
in a three year period. Aggressive growth resulted from Picasso's product
strategies that centered on the use of satellite technology for Internet
applications. Picasso has held several senior management positions with other
GE units including GE Americom, GE Communications & Services and GE
Information Services. He also held various positions with Telxon Corporation
 and McKinsey & Company.
"Iridium has always intrigued me. Now, with virtually no debt and a well-
focused vertical market strategy, Iridium can deliver on a vision of providing
cost-effective global communications services for businesses that operate in
remote locations," said Picasso. "And the potential for data applications is
 endless."
