NEW YORK, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacob's Creek and Wyndham Estate, both
award-winning wines from Australia, invite chefs around the country to
participate in the Great Australian Barbeque Cookoff for the benefit of local
Meals-On-Wheels groups. The promotion, which runs March through September, is
designed to celebrate the enjoyment of barbeque cooking and Australian wine.
"We are very excited about the quality and value of Australian wines and
have created an off-premise and on-premise promotion that introduces consumers
and chefs to Jacob's Creek and Wyndham Estate wines and a very popular cooking
style," said Roberta Perillo, senior brand manager, Austin, Nichols & Co.,
Inc. For the promotion's on-premise segment we are thrilled to welcome
Meals-On-Wheels to be the charity receiving donations on behalf of
 participating chefs."
Jacob's Creek and Wyndham invites chefs to prepare a special menu item
that will be served to patrons over the course of a month and will be
recommended with a Jacob's Creek or Wyndham Estate wine. Every restaurant that
participates will have a donation made in its name to their local Meals-On-
Wheels chapters. The company has committed to donating $15,000 nationwide to
 this worthy cause.
In addition, The Great Australian Barbeque Cookoff invites consumers to
send in their favorite barbeque recipes for a chance to win a trip to
Australia and a grand prize of a new Subaru Outback Sport. Recipes will be
judged on originality, taste appeal and presentation style by Food Network
Live celebrity chef David Rosengarten, and guest judges. Along with submitting
a recipe by September 15, 2001, each entrant must recommend a Jacob's Creek or
Wyndham Estate wine that would be best served with their recipe. Consumers, 21
years of age or older can obtain entry forms at participating liquor stores
and supermarkets throughout the United States. Six finalists will then be
selected for a trip to Australia where the winner will be awarded the Grand
 Prize.
According to Emily Ross, executive director of the National Association of
Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP), "NANASP is pleased to be the
recipient of this generous donation from Jacob's Creek and Wyndham Estate
wines to help it in its work on behalf of home delivered meals across the
