Video Files Directly Through an Integrated Interface

LAS VEGAS and NEW YORK, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- NAB 2001 -- Javu
Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of network-based video processing
solutions has released a Clip Compiler plug-in for the Virage Video
Application Server(TM) from Virage, Inc. The Clip Compiler for the Virage
platform allows for network-based editing and transcoding of video files
directly through the Virage browser-based interface. This combination
provides a seamless workflow, enabling clients to extend the functionality of
their video content and capitalize on their assets through an integrated
 platform.
"We are pleased that Javu has integrated with the Virage platform," said
Carlos Montalvo, chief marketing officer of Virage. "The combination of
Javu's breakthrough video creation tools with the award-winning publishing,
management and distribution capabilities of the Virage platform will
streamline the workflow of digital media production."
The Virage Video Application Server lets an organization easily set up and
maintain a dynamic, video-rich Web site that provides convenient and
searchable access to digital video content through standard Web browsers.
Javu's Video Processing engine works directly through this interface to allow
users to transcode a video file from one to multiple formats, while also
optimizing bit-rate, frame size, etc. for their specific needs. Users can
also create new video presentations by cutting files, inserting transitions,
text, and creating a new video compilation. By enabling companies to move
more of their video archives online and offering them video editing,
transcoding and processing services previously found only on desktop
computers, Javu's Clip Compiler, combined with the Virage VAS, extends the
functionality of an online archive, enabling users to search, access, and
manipulate video files remotely via a network-based system.
"We are pleased to be forging new ground with Virage," said Daniel Stein,
president of Javu. "Virage's continuing commitment to rich media technology
and services has made them a clear market leader. The combination of the video
publishing, management and distribution capabilities of the Virage platform
with Javu's video editing environment will give customers a complete, one-stop
solution for all their video needs."
The combined Virage-Javu solution improves workflow, saves desktop
resources and speeds time to market by making files readily available for
viewing and reusing. Video files no longer have to be transferred to a local
system for basic editing and transcoding jobs. This reduces bandwidth
requirements and frees up high-end desktop editing/transcoding workstations
for more complex and creative uses. The Video Processing Server becomes the
workhorse for the more routine processing tasks. Most importantly, the
integrated system eliminates current inefficiencies in video asset networks,
automating tasks that were once time and people-intensive and thereby
preserving a company's two most valuable resources.
