Jazztel Reports Strong Operational Progress

    MADRID, Spain, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Jazztel plc (Nasdaq:   JAZZ)
 (Easdaq: JAZZ, and the Nuevo Mercado in Spain: JAZ) today announced that it
 had deployed a total of 2,092 km of local fibre access network as of March 31,
 2001.  This figure compares to 1,731 km at the end of 2000.
 
     Other significant operational achievements are:
     * Jazztel signed up 528 new customers for its direct access services in
       the first quarter of 2001, bringing the total of net-customer base to
       1,786.
     * Additionally, a total of 362 new sites were directly connected to
       Jazztel's network, elevating the number of provisioned sites to 943, an
       increase of 62% from the previous quarter.
 
     Jazztel will release its 1st Quarter 2001 results at 8:30 a.m. (CET) on
