John DeFord to Succeed Phyllis McCullough as President and CEO of Cook(R) Incorporated

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- John DeFord, senior vice
 president of product development administration, will succeed Phyllis
 McCullough as president and chief executive officer of Cook(R) Incorporated
 effective July 1, 2001. McCullough, who has held those positions since 1988,
 will remain with the company as chairman of the board and also will devote
 more of her time as executive vice president of operations for Cook Group
 Incorporated to global business issues affecting all Cook Group medical
 manufacturing companies.

 coming years with his terrific knowledge of product development, his proven
 expertise in biomedical engineering and his extensive experience with the
 company," McCullough said in announcing DeFord's promotion.
     DeFord holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University in Electrical/Biomedical
 Engineering and has worked for the Cook organization for 15 years. In 1999, he
 was promoted to senior vice president of product development administration,
 where he was responsible for the development and worldwide launch of Cook's
 Zenith(TM) AAA Endovascular Graft product line. He also has been responsible
 for overseeing the reorganization of Cook Incorporated's product development
 division to streamline and speed up the process of identifying promising new
 medical technologies and bringing them to the world marketplace in a timely
 manner.
