    RACINE, Wis., April 20 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Johnson
 Outdoors Inc. (Nasdaq:   JOUT) today announced that it has named a new Chief
 Financial Officer, Paul A. Lehmann, effective May 7, 2001.  Mr. Lehmann, 48,
 brings 25 years of business financial and operating experience to Johnson
 Outdoors.  Most recently, he was Vice President, Finance and Strategic
 Planning with Steelcase North America, serving as the senior financial officer
 of the largest operating entity of Steelcase, Inc. (NYSE:   SCS), a $4 billion
 public company headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
     Since 1994, Lehmann has led strategic planning at Steelcase North America,
 driving organizational restructuring to enhance product profitability
 management and improve decision-making processes on key market, sourcing and
 manufacturing issues.  He also led teams charged with rationalizing business
 processes across numerous entities and shaping production and capital
 deployment strategies which resulted in substantial cost savings and improved
 productivity.  Lehmann was also involved in marketing and operations during
 prior positions at Steelcase North America as well as other corporations.

     Prior to Steelcase North America, Lehmann was Vice President, Finance and
 Chief Financial Officer of Alloyd Company, and worked in a number of financial
 and operation positions for six years at Anchor Hocking Glass and other
 divisions of the Newell Company, now Newell Rubbermaid.  He also worked in a
 variety of financial and operating posts during six years at the Powers
 Division of Mark Controls Corporation, after beginning his career as an
 auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1976.
     Lehmann graduated with honors with a B.S. in Accounting (ranked first in
 the university) and a M.S. in Accounting and Finance from Illinois State
 University, and passed the CPA in Illinois.  He and his family will move to
 the Racine area from their current home in Grand Rapids.
