KODAK Scientific Imaging Systems Introduces a New 2.1 Million-Pixel Camera for Light Microscopes

Apr 17, 2001, 01:00 ET from KODAK Scientific Imaging

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- KODAK Scientific Imaging has
recently released new drivers for its MDS290, a 2.1 mega-pixel CCD imaging
system for optical microscopy imaging. In addition to MACINTOSH 8.6, 9.0 and
WINDOWS 98, drivers for WINDOWS 2000 and WINDOWS ME are now included with the
system. The MDS 290 has been designed to make capturing photo-quality digital
images of brightfield, darkfield, and bright fluorescence specimens fast,
easy, and economical -- effectively eliminating the cost of instant film and
the guesswork of 35mm film. Off the microscope, the DC290, along with its
standard tripod mount and optional accessories, provide a one-system solution
for microscopy, macroscopy, and electrophoresis gel documentation.
With its Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection, the MDS 290 has been
designed specifically for capturing photo-quality images (up to 8" x 10") of
your brightfield, darkfield, and bright fluorescence microscopy specimens.
The included software module operates seamlessly and fully leverages the
features of ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 5.0/6.0 and also allows you to control the
functions of the camera (exposure, optical zoom, compression, and time lapse)
direct from your computer. A variety of software filters designed specifically
to enhance and optimize your microscopy images are included with this software
 module.

Eastman Kodak Company's Scientific Imaging Systems group, located in
Rochester, NY and New Haven CT, develops and markets high performance films
and digital imaging systems for scientific research. Key focus areas include
autoradiography, electrophoresis gel documentation, photomicrography, and high
 sensitivity fluorescence and chemiluminescent imaging.
