SEATTLE, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- More than flowers are springing up this
season. New Molbak's Outposts will be sprouting up at Larry's Markets
Totem Lake and Redmond locations as part of a joint venture between the two
locally-based retailers. The new Outposts will feature seasonal offerings
including bedding plants and flowers in spring and summer and Christmas trees
 during the winter.
"We joined retail forces because we wanted a garden center and figured we
should have the people who know how to do it," maintains Courtney Young, the
Floral Specialist for Larry's Market. He said Molbak's will merchandise their
products as well as order, stock, deadhead and provide signage while Larry's
will water the stock and sell the products.
"It is a good fit because we cater to the same customer base," reported
Steve Leigh, Vice President of stores and merchandising for Molbak's. "We are
often called the Nordstrom of nursery, and I think of Larry's as the Nordstrom
of grocery. We both offer unique products, are family-owned and have similar
 goals."
"Molbak's is known for their outstanding plants and great directions for
care. The racking is at waist level and the plants are spaced out for better
breathing room," Young added. "We are excited about this. It is a fun idea
that will positively impact both companies, bring more traffic to the store
and give our customers the convenience of a closer Molbak's to visit." In the
near future, Larry's plans to carry tools, gloves, shovels, clogs and other
gardening related items year round, according to Young.
Since 1956 Molbak's has provided the Northwest gardener the freshest,
healthiest and widest selection of plants and flowers raised and acclimated at
the Woodinville farm and greenhouses. Additional products offered by Molbak's
include tools, garden supplies, unique accessories and the finest lines of
outdoor furniture. All Molbak's products feature a money-back guarantee. For
