President of Welch Capital Partners, LLC steps aside as Chairman of the Hospital's Board of Governors' Investment Sub-Committee after three successful years
BRONXVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lawrence Hospital Center announced today that Leighton B. Welch, President of Welch Capital Partners, LLC has elected to step aside as Chairman of the Lawrence Hospital Center Board of Governors' Investment Sub-Committee. Mr. Welch will remain on the Hospital's Board of Governors, a position he has held since 2009 and will remain an active member of the Investment Committee, to which he was appointed more than 10 years ago.
Under Mr. Welch's leadership as Investment Committee Chair, Lawrence Hospital Center saw steady, successful return on investment and the hospital pension fund performance was 10% per year. This return ranked Lawrence's pension in the top quartile among its peers. The performance allowed the hospital to beat its benchmark of 8% compounded over the past 10 years.
The Hospital's Board of Governors and Administration thanked Mr. Welch for his continued dedication, for his leadership of the last three years and guidance of the Committee in its decision processes around this key financial function. Mr. Welch is President and Senior Portfolio Manager of Welch Capital Partners, LLC of Manhattan, a firm which he founded in 1996. Previously, he was employed as a Portfolio Manager with Eagle Capital Management where he managed over $120 million in assets while providing industry expertise in the healthcare, technology and business services sectors. Prior to Eagle Capital, Mr. Welch worked as an Associate for Boston Ventures, a firm concentrating on management buyouts, and as an Analyst for T.A. Associates, a Boston-based venture capital firm with interests in both private and public technology companies. Mr. Welch holds both an AB and an MBA from Harvard University.
