LDSAudio.com Teams Up With Deseret Book to Offer MP3 Books and Music

Sep 15, 2004, 01:00 ET from LDSAudio.com

SALT LAKE CITY and PROVO, Utah, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- LDSAudio.com, the
leading distributor of LDS audio books, talks and music in MP3 format, today
announced it has been selected by Deseret Book Company, the largest LDS book
retailer and publisher, as the sole distributor for hundreds of Deseret Book's
bestselling audio titles and music tracks in digital audio format.
Deseret Book and LDSAudio.com will jointly promote and market products
from both companies to provide the LDS community with greater access to
quality LDS content, including religious books, talks, daily devotionals, and
music by LDS artists. Deseret Book releases more than 40 new audio and music
titles every year that will now be made available as MP3 downloads through
 LDSAudio.com.
Deseret Book will continue to offer its products on CD at Deseret Book
 stores and at deseretbook.com.
"MP3 downloads are a hot commodity these days," said Paul Allen,
co-founder of LDSAudio.com. "We are thrilled to work with Deseret Book and to
share these powerful and life-changing words from prophets, church leaders and
 others in digital audio format."
Digital audio downloads represent a growing category in today's economy.
Informa Media, a British research agency, reports that consumers will buy
10.8 million MP3 players in 2004, a figure that will double, in one year, the
number of people who currently own MP3 players. People don't just listen to
MP3s on designated players, however. Many choose to listen on their home
computers or burn MP3 files to compact discs.
"We have confidence in the LDSAudio.com team," said Sheri Dew, president
and CEO of Deseret Book. "This new agreement allows us to capitalize on the
latest technology so we can reach thousands more in the LDS community with
quality products, in a digital format that's very portable with immediate
 access."
LDSAudio.com recently announced it has given away thousands of free MP3
downloads of the Book of Mormon. Now such books as the popular title Of
Souls, Symbols and Sacraments by LDS Church Apostle, Jeffery R. Holland and
the bestselling Believing Christ by Stephen E. Robinson will also be available
 as MP3's by visiting LDSAudio.com.
