Unique Corporate Culture Garners Company No. 3 Listing

Apr 16, 2001, 01:00 ET from CoManage Corporation

PITTSBURGH, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- CoManage Corporation, the leading
supplier of award-winning Customer-Aware Service Management systems for
network service providers, today announced that it has been named one of the
best places to work in the high-tech industry by Interactive Week magazine.
CoManage, which garnered the No. 3 spot, was honored for its "novel"
business practices, according to the magazine, which publishes an annual
ranking of the top 10 places to work in the high-tech industry.
The findings were published in the April 9 issue of Interactive Week, the
 authoritative Internet newsweekly.
"If you think high-tech in Pittsburgh, what you think is Westinghouse -- a
white lab coat over a shirt and tie," said Ethan Evans, vice president of
operations at CoManage, to the editorial staff at Interactive Week. "We
pretty much changed that image of high-tech here. Both of our founders worked
in Silicon Valley, and they decided to import the best of the relaxed, West
Coast atmosphere and merge it with the Midwest dedication to getting the job
 done."
CoManage was also named as the No. 1 Best Place to Work in Pennsylvania by
the state, and has been honored for its innovative human resources practices
 in the Pittsburgh area.
Among the perks CoManage offers its employees are stock options, a
flexible work schedule, telecommuting privileges, and company-subsidized high-
speed home Internet access, as well as things like fresh-brewed Starbucks
coffee, in-office massages and employee movie nights. CoManage also has a
strong focus on employee development through an in-house training program, and
through mentors assigned to each new employee.
For its annual survey, Interactive Week invited more than 100,000
subscribers to rank their employers through a Web-based poll on such issues as
the ability to get involved in decision-making, opportunity for advancement,
work environment and financial compensation. Advantage Business Research, an
independent research firm, conducted the project among individuals who work
for companies that either do business on the Web or supply products and
services that make online commerce possible. More than 2,000 companies were
 nominated.
Interactive Week Senior Editor Mel Duvall, who oversaw this year's survey,
said, "Each year we survey thousands of Internet-related companies to see
which one is the best place to work. On a voluntary basis, thousands of
employees rated their companies and organizations based on select criteria
with a scale of one to 10, and this year CoManage was right up there with the
 best of them."
