Leah Weil Promoted to General Counsel, Sony Pictures Entertainment

 Leah Weil has been promoted to Corporate Senior Vice President and General
 Counsel, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), with responsibility for all
 Company legal matters, it was announced today by Beth Berke, Executive Vice
 President and Chief Administrative Officer, to whom Ms. Weil will report.
 Ms. Weil previously was Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs, and Deputy
 General Counsel.
     As the Company's most senior legal officer, Ms. Weil will oversee all
 legal and labor relations matters relating to SPE and its operating divisions
 worldwide, including motion pictures, television, home entertainment and
 digital entertainment.  Ms. Weil also will serve as SPE's liaison to Sony
 Corporation on a wide range of legal activities, giving her an enhanced role
 in the Company's management.

 strong skills, deal-making experience and management abilities made her the

     --  The Company's long-term pay TV output deal with Starz Encore

     Ms. Weil joined SPE in 1996 and served as Senior Counsel.  She was
 promoted to Vice President, Legal Affairs, in 1997; to Senior Vice President,
 Legal Affairs and Deputy General Counsel, in 1998; and to Executive Vice
 President, Legal Affairs, in 2000.  Among other duties, she has supervised the
 legal aspects of the following areas: SPE's domestic and international
 corporate transactions; acquisition and financing of filmed entertainment
 product; key executive agreements; and the Company's international theatrical
 and television businesses, including its international channel investments.

 Prior to forming her own firm, Ms. Weil was an associate with the Los Angeles
 law firm previously known as Hill, Wynne, Troop and Messinger, whose corporate
 portfolio featured a large entertainment industry institutional practice.
 While there, she served as outside counsel to SPE and its predecessor
 companies on major corporate transactions.  Ms. Weil lives in the Los Angeles
 area with her husband and two children.
     Ms. Weil graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. from the
 University of California, Los Angeles.  She received her J.D. degree cum laude
 from the University of California's Hastings College of Law.
