Liberate Technologies (Nasdaq: LBRT), a leading provider of software for the
delivery of enhanced television, today announced availability of the latest
release of its television platform suite, Liberate(R) TV Platform(TM) Standard

Liberate's latest platform suite gives network operators valuable new
features, including synchronized enhanced broadcast support, expanded enhanced
television services management for customized pricing models, enhanced
security features, and new CORBA and XML based server integration and
provisioning tools that reduce integration time with back end systems.
The Liberate TV Platform(TM) Standard suite of client and server products
is already supporting some of the world's leading network operators, including
NTL and Telewest, and has recently been chosen by Charter Communications, the
fourth largest cable operator in North America. Charter, with more than
6.4 million customers, last month announced the selection of Liberate
Technologies open-standards based software in the rollout of interactive cable
 television services.
"We chose the latest Liberate TV Platform to deploy interactive services
and content to our customers based on the results of our evaluation and trials
of their software," said Stephen Silva, Charter Senior Vice President of
Corporate Development and Technology. "We're already running Liberate
software and we find we can add new services and content easily."
"Our customers look to Liberate for scalable and flexible solutions for
delivering enhanced television," said Coleman Sisson, president and COO,
Liberate Technologies. "Our latest platform makes it easy to manage new and
customized services that scale up to millions of set-tops in consumers'
 homes."

The major new benefits of the Liberate TV Platform 1.3 suite include:

     1. Added flexibility and power in customer services management. For the
first time, network operators can set up and manage services and
billings customized by household, account, set-top box and more. This
flexibility allows network operators to easily customize and implement
new pricing models for enhanced television services.
     2. Support for true synchronized enhanced broadcast to increase take
rates of highly-targeted advertising and content, as well as boost
subscriber retention and revenue per subscriber. The Liberate TV
Platform 1.3 integrates with DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) networks
with legacy scheduling systems, or in ATVEF (Advanced Television
         Enhancement Forum) compliant networks.
     3. 128-bit SSL 3.0 encryption and new proxy-cache server features create
new opportunities for highly scalable t-commerce and online banking
         services.
     4. Open backend APIs cut integration time with legacy billing and
provisioning systems by a third or more, and allow faster development
of rich consumer services based on widely available e-commerce and
         transaction packages.
