Louisiana Lottery Approves Five-Year Contract Extension With GTECH

Company to Install New Instant-Ticket System

    WEST GREENWICH, R.I., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- GTECH (NYSE:   GTK) today
 announced that the Louisiana Lottery Corporation's Board of Directors has
 approved the exercise of the renewal of the GTECH contract resulting in a
 five-year contract extension with the Company.  The contract extension, which
 includes a provision for the installation of a new instant-ticket system, will
 commence on June 30, 2005, and continue through June 30, 2010.

     Under the terms of GTECH's extension agreement, GTECH will convert the
 Lottery's existing instant-ticket system to the Company's Instant ProSys(TM)
 system.  The Company will continue to provide the Louisiana Lottery with a
 variety of ongoing services, including the operation and maintenance of the
 online gaming system, the central computer system and lottery terminals, and
 hotline management.  The Company estimates revenues of approximately $40
 million over the five-year contract extension period.
     The Louisiana Lottery has been a valued GTECH customer since September
 1991.  Proceeds from Lottery sales have exceeded $1.2 billion since the
 Lottery's inception in 1991.  Thirty-five percent of all lottery revenues are
 transferred to the State Treasury which support a variety of good causes,
 including state education in Louisiana.
