WASHINGTON, Aug. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, announced today that Jill DeGraff Thorpe has joined the Washington, D.C., office as a partner in the firm's Healthcare practice. Thorpe comes to Manatt from Golden Stone, LLC, where she was a managing member.

Thorpe focuses her practice on innovation-based businesses that bring disruptive healthcare technologies to market. She works with strategic investors and early-stage companies to reduce time-to-market and operational risks for transformative solutions in the digital health/mobile health arena.

While at Golden Stone, Thorpe provided consulting support to InScope Health, where she led sales execution and business development, introduced a new pricing model and CRM solution, created a message platform for core offerings, and structured value-based pricing arrangements.

William S. Bernstein, chair of the firm's Healthcare division, said that "Healthcare's future is digital. Jill's understanding of the convergence of care and technology will benefit companies grappling with digital challenges and, more importantly, looking for opportunities, going forward. She helps organizations shape and execute sophisticated digital strategies to capitalize on emerging digital products, channels and processes. Jill will deliver real value to clients, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Manatt."

Before Golden Stone, Thorpe worked for AFrame Digital, an early pioneer in cloud-based remote patient monitoring and wearable technologies. There she established critical distribution and strategic partnerships, gained key marketing endorsements and led the company's first implementations with health systems. She also developed standard pricing and agreements, negotiated IP development and commercialization agreements, obtained FDA Class II clearance, and oversaw the successful prosecution of two patents.

"Manatt is a leader in healthcare and digital media law, consulting, and advocacy," said Thorpe, "and a true innovator integrating those services seamlessly for clients in a way that other firms do not. With an extraordinary roster of talent — lawyers and consultants — pushing boundaries across the spectrum of healthcare, the firm provides the ideal platform from which to assist companies as they work to drive and thrive in the digital health revolution."

Thorpe earned a B.A. from Wellesley College, cum laude, and a J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law. She received a Health Policy Graduate Certificate from George Washington University, Milken Institute School of Public Health.

Thorpe is the tenth new partner added this year to the firm's fast growing Washington, D.C., office, including tax lawyer Megan Christensen; corporate and finance lawyer Brian Ashin; managed care lawyer Linda Tiano; federal government affairs and public policy lawyer Daniel Addison; former deputy administrator of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services and director of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services Cindy Mann; corporate transactions lawyers Douglas Boggs, Alan Noskow and Joseph Passaic; and former FCC Enforcement Bureau chief Katherine Winfree.

Manatt's Healthcare practice has been nationally recognized for excellence by Chambers USA, which honored the firm with its 2014 Award for Excellence in the healthcare category and again named the firm a finalist for the 2015 award. The Chambers USA awards honor outstanding law firms and lawyers across the United States, reflecting pre-eminence in key practice areas and notable achievements including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth and excellence in client service. The group also achieved a Tier 1 ranking, the highest designation bestowed, from U.S. News & World Report in its 2015 ranking of the country's "Best Law Firms." Additionally, the practice recently received The Legal 500 United States Award 2015 in the Healthcare: Service Providers category.
