MINNEAPOLIS, April 24 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Pink, blue,
yellow and white pennants will fill the staging areas of the March of Dimes
WalkAmerica, the walk that saves babies, for the organization's "Field of
Hope" sponsored by HealthPartners. Each of these pennants will remember or
honor someone that has either won or lost the fight for life at birth. The
vibrant colors of the pennants will give a stunning visual message to the need
to protect the health of babies during pregnancy. The Minnesota Chapter of
the March of Dimes holds WalkAmerica on Sunday, April 29 in Minneapolis and
 Stillwater.
March of Dimes WalkAmerica is the first and best walking event in the
country. WalkAmerica has been saving babies for more than 30 years and helps
raise funds for the March of Dimes that support research and programs to give
all babies a fighting chance. 6,000 heroes will participate in March of Dimes
WalkAmerica, the walk that saves babies, on April 29 at three Twin Cities
locations -- Minneapolis, Stillwater and Wonderwalk (for Kids and their
families) at Loring Park in Minneapolis.
This year the focus of March of Dimes WalkAmerica is the prevention of
premature births. Each year, 450,000 babies are born prematurely, and must
struggle just to survive. Nearly one million people in 1,400 communities
nationwide help these tiny babies win their fight by joining WalkAmerica.
Event proceeds go to lifesaving research and innovative prevention programs
that find ways to prevent premature births and birth defects that will benefit
 babies here in Minnesota.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is
to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant
