BRIGHTON, Colo., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Maryellen Pollack, candidate for House District 30, supports efforts to expand and promote child safety, particularly in the area of requiring protective gear for children who are using bicycles to travel to and from school. In the recent legislative session, the House passed a bill (HB 1147) that required minors to wear protective helmets when using non-motorized wheeled transportation on streets, and requiring that children are taught bike safety in schools. Maryellen strongly rejects Kevin Priola's efforts to kill a bill designed to keep children in House District 30 safe.
"I believe we should do all that we can to promote responsible behavior in our children, especially concerning the use of bikes to travel on streets. The idea of rejecting a measure that would teach bike safety and require the use of protective bill is preposterous," said Maryellen Pollack. "Kevin Priola clearly doesn't understand the day to day concerns of the people of HD 30, who take seriously the task of keeping our kids safe."
