    NEWTON, Iowa, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Maytag (NYSE:   MYG) expects to
 announce first quarter sales and earnings on Tuesday morning, April 17.
     The corporation has scheduled a conference call to discuss its performance
 with members of the financial community.  During the call, Leonard A. Hadley,
 president and chief executive officer, will comment on various aspects of the
 results and answer questions.

     The conference call will be at 9:30 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, April 17.
 Persons wishing to participate in the call should telephone 212-896-6163 at
 9:20 a.m. CDT.  Connections will be made as fast as possible, but a wait of
 10 minutes is not uncommon.
     For those who are unable to participate in the 9:30 a.m. call, the
 conference call will be recorded and available by telephone from
 11:30 a.m. CDT April 17 until 11:30 a.m. April 19.  Persons interested in
