REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Mbrane (Nasdaq: MBRN), a
leading global provider of solutions that mobilize the enterprise, today
announced joint efforts with Telstra, Australia's premier telecommunications
provider, and Powerlan, Asia Pacific's fastest growing enterprise business
system and service integrator, to form the Enterprise Mobility Alliance. The
alliance completes a collaboration that began last year to aggressively
mobilize enterprises that can immediately benefit from the free and secure
flow of enterprise intelligence from anywhere at anytime.

Participants in the Enterprise Mobility Alliance have committed to
investing more than $2.5 million (USD) in resources in the short term,
allocating specialist consulting and sales resources that will focus solely on
this fast growing market. Mbrane is investing the core enabling technology
 and associated software support resources.
"Any serious plan for mobilizing enterprise business information systems
has to include the integrated collaboration of the right mobile computing
platform, a leading edge wireless telecommunications carrier and a highly
skilled consulting and systems integration team," said John Armenakas,
managing director of Mbrane Asia Pacific. "The combined forces of the most
progressive, credible and professional service providers such as Mbrane,
Telstra and Powerlan, will signal to conservative and early adopter
organizations alike that there is now the demonstrable capability and
technology to deliver enterprise-class, high availability wireless data
 solutions."
Based on and building upon the foundation of Mbrane's Touchpoint
enterprise-class software membrane, the Alliance will offer companies the
means to implement instant, secure, continuous access to the most up-to-date
enterprise information, wirelessly. Mbrane's Touchpoint suite of solutions
ensures the integrity and security of applications and data delivered over
both the existing telecommunications spectrum and new networks such as General
Packet Radio Service (GPRS). The solution will also reduce the costs
traditionally associated with 'always connected' mobile computing and
 significantly improve business efficiency.
"Mobile computing is set to cut costs and boost efficiencies," said Gavin
Matthews, Powerlan wireless manager. "Powerlan seamlessly sutures together
Mbrane's platform and Telstra's wireless network. By efficiently making these
systems 'talk' with each other, the mobile computing user gets a very useful
service with out having an inkling about the technological barriers we have
 pushed back."
"Telstra is very pleased to be working closely with Mbrane and Powerlan to
help accelerate the delivery of wireless solutions being demanded by our
business customers to extend and better leverage their substantial investments
in applications and business processes," said John Gugell, director of Telstra
OnAir division. "Now we have the right value-proposition to complement our
recent launch of GPRS via this teaming agreement and are excited about our
prospects of delivering real value to business customers ready to take
advantage of the benefits of wireless data."
Mbrane's Touchpoint suite enables companies to extend access to crucial
business intelligence beyond the traditional constraints of network firewalls,
without having to wait for new bandwidth technologies such as '3G'.
Touchpoint provides continuity of communications over wireless communications
networks, presents enterprise data in a format suitable for small screens and
overcomes traditional challenges such as bandwidth constraints, non-perfect
zone coverage and non-perfect uptime while addressing key issues such as
authentication and data and session integrity.
