Michigan Racing Commissioner Announces Opening Day at Great Lakes Downs

    LIVONIA, Mich., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Great Lakes Downs is currently
 preparing for their opening day of live Thoroughbred racing on April 30,
 according to Michigan Racing Commissioner Annette M. Bacola.
     "As part of the track's effort to gain more public interest in horse
 racing, Great Lakes Downs will take part in the Super Track Racing Series
 involving Magna Entertainment's seven other tracks and introduce a world class
 menu for an enhanced dining experience," said Bacola.
     "Our office is excited that quality Thoroughbred racing will continue to
 grow on the west side of the state and we are pleased to hear about future
 improvements at the racetrack which include state of the art grooms quarters
 and a jockey locker room that will set a new national standard," continued
 Bacola.
     Live Thoroughbred racing returns to Great Lakes Downs in Muskegon with a
 post time of 5:30 p.m. on Sunday through Tuesday races and 6:30 p.m. on Friday
 and Saturday races.  The live pari-mutuel race meeting will run on a Monday,
 Tuesday, Friday and Saturday schedule through October 30 with Sunday racing
 commencing on May 27.  In addition to live racing, Great Lakes Downs is open
 for full-card simulcast wagering from noon until midnight Wednesday through
 Sunday.
