Micronas Wins Prestigious Samsung Best Supplier Award

Apr 04, 2001, 01:00 ET from Micronas GmbH

SEOUL, South Korea, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Micronas announced they were
presented Samsung's prestigious Award of Contribution at the annual Samsung
Visual Media Division meeting. The Award of Contribution is presented in
recognition of on-time and reliable delivery of audio and video ICs for
Samsung Television Sets. Samsung presents the award annually to their best
 supplier and cooperative partner.
"Micronas has been a long time supplier and important contributor to
Samsung's TV development," said ChangDuck Chang, Vice President of Samsung
Electronics Visual Media Division. "This award honors their strong commitment
to the development of innovative leading edge audio and video ICs and
providing excellent customer support and engineering services."
"Micronas offers highly integrated audio and video chips that are
compatible to all TV standards worldwide," said Hans-Jurgen Desor, Vice
President Consumer Products at Micronas. "This allows TV manufacturers to
replace all audio and video ICs for different parts of the world with a
one-supports-all chip, which makes inventory management more efficient and
 cost effective."
Digital signal processing (DSP) is Micronas' core competency. The
DSP-based ICs for consumer applications such as TV and audio systems are
highly integrated mixed-signal CMOS chips based on a platform concept, which
allows low cost production of application-specific derivates (types) with only
minimal changes to the production process. Micronas' ability to quickly switch
the manufacturing process to different types of audio and video ICs increases
time-to-market for TV manufacturers. Both these issues, low cost and fast
time-to-market, are essential in today's consumer electronics market.
