Apr 25, 2001, 01:00 ET from MICROS Systems, Inc.

COLUMBIA, Md., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- MICROS Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the
hospitality industry, announces the general release of its 9700 Hospitality
Management System (HMS). The MICROS 9700 HMS is the company's newest point-
of-sale system for the leisure and entertainment industry (hotels, resorts,
restaurants, casinos, stadiums, arenas, themeparks, airports, and cruises),
designed to integrate all functions of both front-end and back-office
restaurant service and retail revenue centers.
Jenny Kurdle, Vice President of Leisure and Entertainment Sales stated,
"Our large 8700 installed customer base has asked for a Microsoft(R)
Windows(R) NT solution with MICROS's superior performance, scalability and
reliability required to run their complex environments and we've exceeded
those expectations with the 9700 HMS. The response from the beta sites has
been phenomenal, and we are excited to offer this solution to current and
 future customers."
The MICROS 9700 HMS utilizes the industry's most advanced POS technology
to deliver maximum flexibility and scalability. The system has been built as
a native Microsoft(R) Windows(R) NT application to leverage the expanded power
and built-in security of this world-proven operating system. The 9700 HMS can
produce up-to-the-minute customized reports in real-time, and allows multiple
users to operate other software programs while the system is in use. The
system can also automate specific utilities, so reports and other functions
can run unattended at the same time every day. These features provide
outstanding savings of time and effort for restaurant management personnel.
For ease of use and training, the 9700 HMS uses touchscreen and keyboard
technology for all aspects of POS operations, including server workstations
and remote hand-held terminals. Each user workstation features user-definable
sequencing for fast and accurate order entry. Touchscreens also offer an
easy-to-read double screen. Hand-held touchscreen terminals allow servers to
take orders directly at the table, speeding service and providing flexibility
in remote service areas. The MICROS 9700 HMS has been designed to be the
easiest system to learn, use, and maintain in today's hospitality industry.
The MICROS 9700 HMS interfaces to virtually any system or software, so
users can easily integrate POS with property management systems, credit
authorization, and back-office software. The system employs Structured Query
Language (SQL), an industry standard method for accessing database
information, allowing data to be stored with most software packages.
