MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MobileIron (NASDAQ: MOBL), the stand-alone EMM leader, today announced that the MobileIron Core platform has received Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) approval from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This approval allows U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agencies to deploy MobileIron on both Android and iOS devices within certain DoD networks.
STIGs are the configuration standards for DoD Information Assurance (IA) and IA-enabled devices and systems. Since 1998, DISA has played a critical role enhancing the security posture of DoD's security systems by providing STIGs. STIGs contain technical guidance to "lock down" information systems and software that might otherwise be vulnerable to a malicious computer attack.
"The DoD Mobile Device Strategy encourages a highly mobile workforce for greater mission effectiveness," said Barry Mainz, President and CEO, MobileIron. "This STIG approval is the latest validation that MobileIron is government-grade and approved for deployment within certain networks of the DoD."
MobileIron's STIG approval comes five weeks after it became the first company to receive Common Criteria Certification for Mobile Device Management Protection Profile V2 from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). NIAP is the United States government initiative, operated by the National Security Agency (NSA), which oversees the national program to evaluate technology products for conformance to Common Criteria. Common Criteria evaluations involve extensive and rigorous testing of the security aspects of a product or system.
