Mobileway, Inc. Announces Global Text Message Delivery Across All Wireless Networks

New GSM Association Member MobileWay, Inc. Offers Inter-Network Message

Routing Service to Enable North American Phone and Two-Way Paging

Carriers to Deliver SMS Messages Globally

Apr 18, 2001, 01:00 ET from MobileWay, Inc.

SAN RAMON, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Leveraging its established
leadership in Europe and Asia for delivering Short Messaging Service (SMS)
across all wireless networks, MobileWay, Inc. announced its offering to United
States carriers to deliver short text messages to other global network
operators. The MobileWay Inter-Network Message Routing (IMR) Service makes it
possible for mobile customers to send two-way text messages to other wireless
subscribers anywhere in the world, regardless of the network operator service
 they subscribe to.
The MobileWay Inter-Network Messaging Routing Service features an
inter-network delivery capability that enables network operators to deliver
SMS messages to other subscribers whether or not the destination phone number
is on their network. Currently, if a short message service message is
addressed to a phone number on another network, the message is typically
discarded without notice to the sender. The MobileWay Inter-Network Message
Routing Service accepts SMS messages from any participating network operator,
routes the message to the intended network, and ultimately delivers it to the
correct subscriber's mobile messaging device. This service provides North
American network operators with the ability to extend their network coverage
with off-network roaming capabilities and enables them to identify new sources
 of revenue.
While the MobileWay Inter-Network Message Routing Service further
demonstrates the Company's commitment to the Global System for Mobile
Communication (GSM) standard's promotion and evolution, the Service also
enables the routing of messages along networks operating on the TDMA, CDMA,
iDEN, and paging protocols. MobileWay, Inc. was selected to enter into the
GSM Association, the leading global wireless representative body, as an
Associate Member providing roaming facilitation services that enable network
operators to provide international roaming services to its customers. The GSM
Association is comprised of a select group of GSM, GSM/satellite and
3G operators, regulators, administrative bodies, and many key manufacturers
for and suppliers to the GSM industry.
"The MobileWay Inter-Network Message Routing Service introduces true,
global interoperability for cellular, GSM, and paging technologies," said
Patrice Peyret, CEO of MobileWay, Inc. "This is exactly what U.S. wireless
network operators need to inter-connect the various, disparate network
protocols. Network operators will now be able to offer their subscribers
extended coverage across all networks throughout North America, Europe, and
Asia. Moreover, the MobileWay Inter-Network Message Routing Service provides
network operators with a new distribution model that will drive additional
 revenue."
"MobileWay is pleased to have been selected among hundreds of other
applicants to become an Associate Member of the GSM Association," added
Mr. Peyret. "As a provider of roaming facilitation services, MobileWay is a
vital part of the GSM Association's drive to further expand and develop the
GSM standard. By assisting in the evolution of the world's leading wireless
technology, MobileWay is expanding its role in and commitment to the
establishment of a worldwide, unified m-commerce community."
MobileWay, Inc. is currently working with more than 60 global network
operators and content providers to enable value-added mobile services for
consumers in the U.S. The Company is deploying seamless access to
custom-branded, m-commerce solutions; wireless data services such as SMS and
downloadable ring tones; and mobile service data. MobileWay, Inc. will work
with its network operator customers to define the standards, practices, and
requirements that have made SMS the most widely used wireless data delivery
 vehicle.
