Monitronics Replaces Tools Stolen From Habitat for Humanity

Thieves Make Off With Tools; Monitronics Donates to Help

DALLAS, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Monitronics is giving back this holiday season by helping a neighbor.

Thieves stole $5,000 worth of tools sometime during Thanksgiving week from the North Collin County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. These tools were helping to build a McKinney home for a single mom and her kids. Home security system leader Monitronics donated five drills worth $1,250 this week so that the house can be ready as soon as possible for Taira Warren and her two children.

"I would have lived in an apartment for the rest of my life," Warren said. "So, it really means a lot to be able to live in a home, not only live it, but for it to be mine."

The house was scheduled to be ready for occupancy by Christmas, but the robbery may delay completion. The tools were stolen from a locked trailer in front of the almost-finished home. Some have been recovered this week and donations are helping with the rest.

"We hope that these drills help construction continue uninterrupted so that Ms. Warren and her children are able to move in by the 25th," said Bruce Mungiguerra, Vice President of Field Services at Monitronics. "We believe in being a good neighbor and this is just one way of giving back."

Habitat spokesperson Celeste Haiduk Faro said hopes are high for the family to gain occupancy by the holiday.

"The goal is to finish, get her in there by Christmas," Haiduk Faro said.
