Mar 21, 2001, 00:00 ET from Multi-Tech Systems, Inc.

    MINNEAPOLIS, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading
data communications technology company based in suburban Minneapolis,
announces that its line of modem and hybrid modem/ISDN server cards now
include a Red Hat Package Management System (RPM). The RPMs, built by Red
Hat, certify the cards as being "Red Hat Ready" and include everything, needed
to simplify installing and uninstalling the server cards in Red Hat Linux
6.2 and 7.0 systems. Read Hat Ready Multi-Tech Systems server cards include:
-- MultiModemISIs containing four or eight V.90 modems, selling for $999
        and $1,499
-- MultiModemISIs containing two or four ISDN BRIs with four or eight V.90
modems selling for $1,449 or $2,499.

"Choosing Linux in a business application is done for two basic reasons:
low cost and a stable operating environment," says Chip Harleman, Vice
President of Sales and Marketing for Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. "Using WAN
access hardware that is not easy to install and is not proven to work
flawlessly with Linux can make those advantages vanish very quickly. That is
why Multi-Tech teamed up with Red Hat to provide a line of WAN server cards
that are certified to work with Red Hat Linux. Red Hat's work in bringing
Linux to the business environment is proven, and we are very pleased to be
part of their efforts. With the Red Hat Ready certification of these
products, users can now rely on server card hardware from a communications
company that has been in business for over 30 years, and they can rely on Red
Hat's certification that they will work."
The MultiModemISI line of server cards combine with Red Hat's Linux 6.2
and 7.0 operating environment to provide high-speed and reliable server-based
solutions for remote access, modem pooling, fax serving and thin-client
computing. The server card line adds high-speed, reliable modems or hybrid
ISDN and analog modems on a single card. These models feature throughputs up
to 230K bps on all modem ports, come in PCI-bus configurations, include
patented flash memory upgrading, and include a two year warranty. The RPMs
can be located on Multi-Tech's web site at
http://multitech.com/SYSTEMS/linux / or on the Red Hat web site at
http://hardware.redhat.com /. The RPMs support the following Multi-Tech
 server card models: ISI5634PCI/4 and 8, ISIHP-2S, -2U, -4S, and -4U. They
are intended to work with Red Hat Linux 6.2 and 7.0 only.
