LOS ANGELES, April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Donna
Summer, Stevie Wonder and Brian McKnight are confirmed to perform at the
Eighth Annual RACE To Erase MS gala, the "Rock & Soul To Erase MS," presented
by The Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation, Inc. and VH1 to benefit the
Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis on Friday, May 18 at the
Century Plaza Hotel & Spa in Century City. The event will be co-chaired by
Nancy Davis, Tommy Hilfiger and John Sykes, President, VH1.
These award-winning acts will round out an exciting evening of
performances with a mix of musical genres geared to the "Rock & Soul" theme.
The evening will also feature special appearances by Bill Maher, Tom Arnold
and Tony Danza, legendary silent and live auctions, a fabulous dinner and, for
the first time, a special disco-themed post-party reminiscent of "Studio 54."
The evening will be broadcast on VH1 as a musical special at 10:00pm on
 Saturday, June 23, 2001.
Donna Summer virtually started the disco movement in the 1970's with songs
like "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff," and "On The Radio." Motown great Stevie
Wonder has dazzled the world since the early 1960's with both his music and
his lyrics, co-writing such amazing hits as Smokey Robinson's "Tears Of A
Clown." Brian McKnight has consistently been at the top of the R&B charts
since his self-titled debut album in 1993, when his duet with Vanessa Williams
"Love Is" reached number 3 on the Billboard music charts.
Donna Summer and Brian McKnight also donated songs for use on the music
album, "Keeping The Dream Alive - RACE To Erase MS," which will debut from
Epic Records, a division of Sony Music, on June 5, 2001 ($18.98). The disc
also features performances by Destiny's Child, Macy Gray, Jamiroquai, Mandy
Moore, Gloria Estefan among others. A special, live version of "Lean On Me,"
taped at last year's RACE To Erase MS is also featured and includes the voices
of 98 Degrees, Jim Belushi, Meredith Brooks, Michael Fredo, Sophie B. Hawkins,
Wyclef Jean, Donny Osmond, Bijou Phillips, Montel Williams and Zeke.
Proceeds from the event will go directly to the Nancy Davis Foundation for
Multiple Sclerosis' Center Without Walls, a collaboration of physicians,
scientists and clinicians nationwide developing research programs and
therapeutic approaches to eradicate MS. The evening is sponsored by The Tommy
Hilfiger Corporate Foundation, Inc., VH1 and American Airlines.
The RACE to Erase MS was created by Nancy Davis in 1993 and has since
become one of the largest and most successful annual events funding research
for multiple sclerosis. It is hoped that this year's RACE to Erase MS raises
 $3 million.
Individual tickets for the "Rock & Soul To Erase MS" are $1,000-$5,000.
