National Media, Inc. Sells Its Los Angeles Independent Newspaper Group

    LOS ANGELES, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Equal Access Media, Inc. (EAMI) has
 acquired the Los Angeles Independent Newspaper Group from National Media Inc.
 EAMI, which acquired the Wave Newspaper Group last year, also owns newspapers
 and radio stations in Texas.
     The two newspaper groups have a combined distribution of about 400,000,
 all in the central area of Los Angeles.  The newspapers acquired are:  the
 Hollywood Independent, Wilshire Independent, Los Angeles Independent, West
 Hollywood Independent and the Westsider.
     The Beach Reporter and Palos Verdes Peninsula News are not part of the
 acquisition and will continue to be published by National Media, Inc.
     NMI'S CEO, Steve Laxineta said of the acquisition, "The coverage afforded
 advertisers with the combined circulation far exceeds any other newspaper's
 penetration in the area.  The combination buy should be very attractive to
 National, Major and Regional advertisers."
     Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
     Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger and acquisition firm based
 in Santa Fe, NM, represented National Media in the transaction.
