N.C. 50 Closed From N.C. 53 to U.S. 17 in Onslow and Pender Counties

    RALEIGH, N.C., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- 50 is closed in both directions
 from N.C. 53 to U.S. 17 in Onslow and Pender counties due to a fatal accident
 that occurred during the installation of a new county water line.
     A shoulder of N.C. 50 eastbound collapsed today while private contractors
 were installing a water line, resulting in the fatality of one worker.  NCDOT,
 along with the Highway Patrol, is providing traffic control while emergency
 workers are on the scene.
    N.C. 50 is expected to reopen early this evening.
 
     Alternate Route
     Motorists traveling on N.C. 50 should take N.C. 53 toward Jacksonville to
 U.S. 258 to U.S. 17 South.
