Neartek, Inc. Partners with ADIC; Neartek to Certify ADIC Scalar(R) 100 and 1000 for Use With the VSengine(TM)

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from Neartek, Inc.

NEW YORK, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Neartek, Inc., a global provider of
enterprise virtual storage solutions, announced today an agreement with
Advanced Digital Information (Nasdaq: ADIC) that will bring virtual
enterprise-wide tape solutions to the mainframe, open system and mid-range
market through the certification of Neartek VSengine(TM) software with ADIC's
 Scalar(R) 100 and the Scalar(R) 1000 tape libraries.
"The combination of Neartek software with the tape based capacity of
ADIC's automated libraries will reduce the complexity of sharing resources and
consolidating back-up from mixed computing environments and various tape
applications," said Cyril Chiche, vice president of marketing for Neartek.
"It provides customers with added value through a tighter interface and
 enhanced through-put as well."
"The ADIC-Neartek cooperation brings a flexible, high performance solution
to a wide range of enterprise environments," commented Jonathan Otis, ADIC
senior vice-president, Technology. "It offers a unified infrastructure for
premium performance, superior reliability, enhanced data transfer rates, and
tape virtualization. This solution brings new levels of protection,
performance and availability to both mainframe and mid-range applications."
The ADIC Scalar(R) series of automated tape libraries comprise over a
dozen separate models that offer desktop to data center capacity ranges for
all of the major open system tape formats-LTO, AIT, and DLT. The award-
winning Scalar(R) libraries have had several industry firsts: they were the
first to announce integrated Fibre Channel connectivity to allow their direct
use in Storage Area Networks (SANs); the first independent libraries to
announce support for both AIT and LTO Ultrium technology; and the first to
offer low-cost, high performance barrier-free scalability to the mid-range
 tape storage market.
Neartek, a privately held company operating in New York and Lakeville,
Massachusetts with European headquarters in Paris, France, provides
enterprise-class data storage technologies as well as professional services.
With products such as the VSengine(TM), the only true enterprise wide virtual
near-online storage solution in the marketplace, and the Virtual Library
Manager, Neartek products and services create storage architectures that help
 companies dramatically improve information management.
