New App Bolsters the Art of Correspondence and Etiquette
CHICAGO, Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Emily Post would be proud. An exciting new app called "Handwrytten" is bringing back the classic art of handwritten cards and thank you notes. A merging of technology with old school charm, Handwrytten allows you to send an array of beautiful, finely crafted, letterpress cards with your message in the handwriting style of your choice. Your card will be written with the help of Handwrytten's robotic handwriting machines, stamped and mailed for less than the cost of a store-bought card.
Handwrytten's app, released last week in the Apple App store, is free to download. Currently featuring artisan cards by Orange Beautiful and A.Favorite Designs, both of Chicago, the company handpicks cards for the app. Upon selecting a card, the user can enter their message and select a handwriting style. After checking out, Handwrytten will then use a special machine to write the message in the card using a pen, a feature unique to Handwrytten.
"Unlike other apps that print the user's message in the card with a laser printer, our messages are written in the cards in realistic handwriting," said David Wachs, president and founder of Handwrytten. "Handwriting creates the personal touch. This app makes it easy to send messages that really stand out from the clutter of emails, IMs, text messages and junk mail."
Handwrytten addresses and uses actual stamps on the envelope. There is no Handwrytten branding on the product.
"We feel it's important to create as genuine a message as possible," continued Wachs. "It's not about where the user got the card, it's about the card and message itself. We hope our app will help reignite old-fashioned correspondence and make it simple for people to send formal thank yous and follow up notes."
Cards start at $5.00 including tax and postage. The user can earn free cards through the app.
