ANTWERP, Belgium, April 20 /PRNewswire/ - Rex Diamond Mining Corporation
is pleased to announce the start of a new drilling programme in Mauritania.
Regional sampling work conducted within the Company's 100%-owned permit areas
resulted in the identification of several anomalies and possible kimberlite
targets, which warranted further investigation. These targets in the Touajil
area are currently being drilled in an attempt to identify a second kimberlite
 province in Mauritania.
After the drilling of the kimberlite targets, the rig will be moved to
the west of the Karet South permit, to continue work as part of Rex's metal
exploration programme. Following the initial drill results from the first
polymetallic gossan found in February 2000, 8 new possible nickel targets have
been identified for exploratory drilling. The drilling programme, for both the
kimberlite and metal targets, is expected to take six to eight weeks, with
 initial results expected early July.
Regarding the microdiamond analysis conducted on the kimberlites located
in the Bir Amrane permit area, which is wholly-owned by Rex, results for
kimberlites K14-K20 have now been received and all the results may be found in
the table on the following page. Please note that results from the
microdiamond analysis conducted on kimberlites K1-K12 were released on March
22nd 2001 but are included here for completion. Kimberlite 13 was not sampled,
as the amount of rocks exposed was too small to be of significant size for
microdiamond analysis. The microdiamond analysis was conducted by Lakefield
Research, Ontario, using the caustic fusion method. All diamond exploration in
Mauritania is carried out under the leadership of Rex's Chief Geologist and
 Executive Director Dr. Luc Rombouts.
