New Fairfield, Conn., Borders Store Hosts Grand Opening Celebration May 4, 5 and 6

 Borders is celebrating the grand opening of its newest location at the site of
 the former Fairfield Department Store on Post Road.  Throughout the weekend,
 special events are planned including a community benefit celebration, a
 Borders Explorers Children's Festival, a B-Listening Party and a special mind,
 body and spirit workshop -- Living the Good Life.
     On Fri., May 4, Borders kicks-off the grand opening festivities with a
 "Moment to Make a Difference" community benefit celebration supporting the
 work of Newman's Own, which has donated more than $1 million to charities
 throughout the country.  Borders will donate a portion of the sales made
 during the party to some of the wonderful programs supported by Newman's Own.
     Beginning at 6:30 p.m., a strolling violinist from Greater Bridgeport
 Symphony Orchestra will fill the store with harmonious sounds.  At 7:30 p.m.,
 The Magic of Christopher will be sure to enchant the young and old.  Gaslight
 Gang, a banjo-led quartet, will be performing ragtime and Dixieland favorites
 at 8 p.m.  In addition, there will be a celebration cake from Devore's Bakery,
 door prize give-aways and the first 250 customers to spend at least $50 will
 receive a free Borders canvas tote bag; quantities are limited.
     Borders will continue the fun, Sat., May 5, with a Borders Explorers
 Children's Festival presented by Scholastic.  The first 200 children, 12 and
 under, will receive cool give-aways and can enter to win a treasure chest of
 books provided by Scholastic.  Beginning at 10 a.m., there will be a
 Wonderful Wizard Trivia Challenge based on the Harry Potter series.  Boys and
 girls will be invited to meet Clifford the Big Red Dog for a storytime and
