New Landmark IMS Performance Monitor Depicts Entire Enterprise on One Monitor

Apr 10, 2001, 01:00 ET from Landmark Systems Corporation

RESTON, Va., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Landmark Systems Corporation today
launched its new product, TMON(TM) for IMS, the first IMS performance monitor
product that provides visibility to all IMS subsystems in the enterprise from
one monitor instance, including multiple images and sysplexes. Landmark TMON
for IMS is also the first IMS monitor that makes it possible for as many users
as necessary to use the program without creating any additional resource
 drain.
Marvin McAnderson, an IMS Systems Programmer with over 25 years of IMS
experience and consultant for Global Software Consulting, said, "I have used
all the IMS monitors in the marketplace and I believe that Landmark's TMON for
IMS provides a superior level of performance and functionality, offering many
comprehensive options the others major monitors do not."
Developed with IMS systems programmers and data center managers in mind,
Landmark TMON for IMS provides continuous real-time and historical views of
the performance of IMS applications and subsystems. The product centralizes
the monitoring of all resources impacting IMS applications and systems, making
it possible to quickly identify problems, bottlenecks, and availability
 issues, and pinpoint probably causes.
Landmark TMON for IMS uniquely and quickly identifies root causes of IMS
slowdowns that may affect IMS system availability and transaction throughput.
The product enables you to set application exception conditions so you can
resolve potential problems or slowdowns before they occur. These alerts can be
set for specific times of the day. For example, a systems programmer can set
an alert if response time exceeds specified levels during the hours of 9 am to
5 pm yet not be bothered if performance falls off during the nightly batch
run. Even if the problem occurred in the past you can view its impact to the
 overall IMS system.
Another unique advantage of Landmark's IMS product is its ability to
NaviGate(R) directly to other complementary Landmark products that monitor
other environments (such as DB2, CICS, MVS, USS, and TCP/IP) drastically
reducing the time required to troubleshoot cross-environmental problems. For
example, if users observes an IMS transaction makes a call to DB2 is running
slowly, they can navigate directly to Landmark's TMON for DB2 product to
pinpoint any cause of delay. The net result is a substantial reduction in
 troubleshooting time.
Also, with the increasing volume of IMS Web transactions over TCP/IP
lines, Landmark TMON for IMS in conjunction with Landmark's TMON for TCP/IP
product offer the unique ability to determine end-to-end response times and
 isolate the impact network delays.
Landmark TMON for IMS is immediately available by contacting a local
