CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM's Lotus Development Corp.
today announced the immediate worldwide availability of its Lotus Discovery
Server, an advanced data search and expertise location solution designed to
help customers maintain, manage and grow their knowledge capital. The most
comprehensive knowledge server available today, Lotus Discovery Server
uncovers and displays the link between people, content and topics helping to
ensure that all of the relevant knowledge and experiences of an organization
are readily available for the execution of related tasks and projects. The
Lotus Discovery Server is based on industry standard technologies to allow
customers the flexibility to leverage their existing IT investments while
taking advantage of one of the most comprehensive knowledge management
 solutions available today.
"The development of innovative knowledge management solutions that support
and help protect the business and investments of our customers is the
foundation of Lotus' knowledge management leadership," said Scott Cooper,

unit, Lotus Development Corp. "This category-defining product can help
businesses realize the value of their intellectual capital and therefore
 create a measurable competitive edge."
The Lotus Discovery Server is designed to help companies maximize their
return on investments by turning their internal data and resources into

retrieve, employees can be more productive and can make faster, more accurate
informed business decisions. In doing so, organizations can take advantage of
business opportunities more rapidly and effectively.

Lotus Knowledge Discovery System Provides A Complete Knowledge

point of access for retrieving critical information and collaborating with
others both inside and outside the organization. Both products are fully
integrated and can be used in unison or as individual solutions.
"We have been working with Lotus' Knowledge Discovery System, and based on
the beta version we are looking forward to more easily fostering, retrieving
and sharing knowledge within our organization," said Robert Knuth, chief
information officer of the United States Armed Forces. "We believe that the
combination of data searching, retrieving and expertise location that
Knowledge Discovery System offers will bring enhanced levels of working and
communicating while gaining a strong competitive advantage."
