DALLAS, Jan. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With over 1.2 million searches a month for "quotes" on Google, it seems a lot of us are looking for a little inspiration online. Quotery, a site built around quotes, hopes to spread the wisdom with a new widget that automatically displays a "Quote of the Day" on webpages.
According to the developers, the Quote of the Day WordPress plugin has been designed to deliver a fully automated solution to publishers.
"It's a set-and-forget plugin," says founder Jason Bacchetta. "Just drag the widget to where you want to display quotes on your page. Once installed, it pulls quotes from Quotery's comprehensive database and displays on the webpage. Even if the content on a page doesn't change, it's still kept fresh for the visitors, with new quotes appearing each day."
Publishers can customize the plugin according to the subject or theme of their site and choose to show quotes only from selected areas, such as finance, health or relationships. Customization features also include a custom title, author display toggle, a variety of colors, and optional social sharing buttons.
The plugin is a brand extension for Quotery. Already an established site with a sizeable following, the new plugin may help Quotery become a more relevant name and penetrate a different market. "We were serving the readers primarily – students, teachers, journalists and just the average Internet user. We're still doing that, but also targeting website owners now. It's a natural progress for the brand."
It's not just the launch of the plugin, the company has also made changes to its flagship product and mainstay, the Quotery.com website. The site recently introduced an integrated citation feature that allows readers to copy and paste appropriate citations for a quote, using the APA, MLA and CMS style guides. Says Bacchetta, "All quotes that are added to our database are verified for authenticity and accuracy. When a student uses our automatic citation feature, the teacher knows it's from a trusted source, and cited properly."
Speaking about the launch of the plugin, Bacchetta says it was driven by a simple idea. "Quotations are a big thing. Not just in search volumes, but also in the way they make us feel. A great quote is like a bite-sized dose of inspiration. And our plugin gives publishers a novel way to welcome visitors with a positive message."
