New Seattlep-i.com Webpage Aims at Afternoon Commuters

Apr 13, 2001, 01:00 ET from Seattlep-i.com

SEATTLE, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Now there is a new place to look in the
late afternoon for fresh news, stocks, sports, weather and things to do that
night. It is an innovative new webpage dubbed the 4 O'CLOCK NEWS.
Created by Seattlep-i.com, 4 O'CLOCK NEWS is a new package of information
created daily for the thousands of people at work getting ready to join the
 region's evening commute.
Lee Rozen, general manager of Seattlep-i.com, said, "We're excited about
this new offering because we think it is a way we can bring a lot of new users
 to the P-I's site."
The 4 O'CLOCK NEWS will provide carefully tailored content for a large
audience looking for late news, links for a smoother commute or menu ideas and
 restaurant reviews.
"We have worked hard to create interesting, useful content that people
will get through quickly and easily, something they'll make a habit of doing
before they leave work each day," Rozen said. "It's more than a refreshed
version of what has been on the site in the previous 24 hours. It is all-new
at 4 p.m. We expect the audience will grow quickly as people find it helpful
 and begin bookmarking it."
Editors and online producers begin packaging content for the webpage
during the day, then put it up on the web for four hours each afternoon,
 Monday-Friday.
An eight-week online and newspaper promotion campaign, created in-house,
is directed to potential viewers. It suggests readers bookmark
seattlep-i.com/4pm and plays to commuters' concerns about dinner plans,
traffic jams and the area's unpredictable weather. "Planning to go straight
home? Better check here first." and "Dinner's in 90 minutes. How can we help?"
"Are you busy tonight? Would you like to be?"
